Frequently Asked Questions
How is your home protected during wash? Upon arrival, our team of professionals takes the necessary steps to protect your home during our service. We bag all exposed outlets, light fixtures, and home generators to prevent damage. We also cover and rinse all surrounding plants and landscaping. All cleaning agents used during your service are properly diluted and neutralized.
Why do we use a soft wash process on your house and roof? We use the soft washing method because it is a safe and effective way to clean a variety of surfaces on your home, such as vinyl siding, stucco, windows and your roof. This combination of low pressure and detergents is less likely to damage your home’s delicate surfaces, all while giving it that new clean look.
What are the different types of pressure washing? Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to clean exterior surfaces. It is effective at removing dirt, grime, and other contaminants. Soft washing uses a combination of low-pressure water and detergents to clean exterior surfaces. It is a gentler method than pressure washing, and it is safe to use on delicate surfaces such as roofs, siding, and windows. Power washing is a term that is often used interchangeably with pressure washing, but there is a subtle difference. Power washing typically refers to using a high-pressure washer in combination with a heating element to put off hot water. Hot water allows for more effective cleaning on difficult stains on concrete and asphalt.
What’s causing the black streaks on your roof? The black streaks on your roof are a blue-green algae, known as Gloeocapsa Magma. Gloeocapsa magma is spread mainly by wind and rain, but can also spread by animals and insects. Once Gloeocapsa magma spores land on a suitable surface, like your home’s roof, they begin to grow and form colonies. The algae eats away at the limestone in asphalt shingles, it leaves behind black streaking to shelter itself from sun exposure. By eating the limestone on the shingles, Gloeocapsa Magma compromises the integrity of your roof, shortening its lifespan. Since the roof is darker it is also less reflective. This makes the home hotter inside and more energy is required to cool it. Worse yet, ugly algae stains lower the perceived value of a home, reducing curb appeal and pride as a homeowner.

Why you shouldn’t use pressure on your house’s siding or roof. Use of high pressure on your home’s siding and roof can harm its delicate materials. High pressure can strip, chip or break your home’s siding material and windows. High pressure on a traditional asphalt shingle roof can remove the limestone granules on the shingles, compromising their integrity, and shortening the lifespan of your home’s roof. A soft wash on your home’s exterior roof is highly recommended to help rid of any organic growth and prolong the roof’s lifespan.
